CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by President Frank Iossi. Also attending were Chris Colby, Ann Farnell, Ed Haskell, Ann Larson, Michele Martin, Jean Michaels, Veena Nayar, Joanne Swenson, and Joyce Wenz.
Absent: Cynthia Daube, Nancy Domaille, Phil Henoch, John Hunziker, Bill Jonason, Bill Kullback, and Dave Senjem.
Others Present: Dick Hall, President of Library Board
Staff present: Audrey Betcher, Library Director; Kathy Olson, Administrative Assistant; Rebecca Splittstoesser, Head of Technical Services
Frank Iossi introduced the two new board members who were present: Chris Colby and Joyce Wenz, Friends representative. Dave Senjem has also been appointed to the Board.
Frank also introduced Dick Hall, President of the Library Board.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ed Haskell moved, Michele Martin second to approve the meeting minutes from January 24, 2001. Motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Kathy Olson reviewed the fourth quarter Treasurer's report.
LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Audrey Betcher stated that we had some money remaining from 2000 operating budget due to staffing shortages. We requested and received approval to encumber to 2001 $32,000 for materials and $50,000 for the technology revolving fund.
Ed added that Audrey has done a good job in continuing to increase the allocation for materials spending.
Audrey reviewed events planned for National Library Week, April 1-7, and requested approval from the Board for funding for at least one ad prior to that week.
The Board suggested that an ad run on Wednesday. They also suggested sending something to the schools for distribution to students to take home, and a poster for distribution at all the nursery schools.
Ann Farnell moved approval of $1,000 for publicity for National Library Week. Jean Michaels second. Motion approved.
PRESIDENT'S BUSINESS
Frank stated that if anyone has suggestions for Board members to notify the executive committee.
Frank extended thanks to Michele Martin for her hard work as president during 2000.
Ann stated that Rotary Clubs have grant money available for education and children. Grant requests must be submitted by March 31.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned for a tour of the building.
